Local Area Data & Demographics

When looking to understand your markets it's important to have access to the most up-to-date and accurate local area datasets and demographics. We have a number of datasets available at both post sector and output area level which can be supplied as stand alone directories or delivered within MICROVISION for indepth reporting and visualisation.

  • 2001 Census Data:
This dataset provides access to over 300 fields from the latest UK Census of Population. Available at either post sector or output area level, it includes comprehensive and extensive data on variables such as population statistics, gender, child age, adult age, ethnicity, housing, tenure, qualifications, employment and car ownership.
  • 1991- 2001 Census Changes:
This dataset extensively analyses the market in terms of geodemographic change by comparing census's. These changes are presented at both post sector and output area level in three different ways including percentage difference, absolute difference and z-score percentage change. The majority of variables available in the Census are provided in comparative terms.
  • Population Projections:
Planning for the future is of interest to most companies. Our population projections can be key to this process, allowing easy identification of areas of significant population growth. Available at output area, postal sector, postal district, and postal area levels, this dataset can be used in conjunction with competitor and sales data, to develop a highly comprehensive picture of your future target markets. Used within our MICROVISION Software, patterns of population growth can be easily visualised as thematic maps for greater insight.
  • Demand/Expenditure Estimates & Market Size:
Market Research data used in isolation typically has no geographical context. Although we might know that certain types of people are the highest spenders on particular products, we don't actually know where these people are, where we can typically find more like them and how big the market is for that product. Using market research such as the ONS Expenditure and Food Survey (EFS), TGI and the MORI Financial Services Survey we have developed a whole series of Demand/Expenditure Estimates and market sizing indicators for every post sector in the UK . These datasets provide an accurate portrayal of purchasing trends, from groceries through to financial products, clothing, home furnishing and domestic appliances. Using this data, we can help you identify ‘Hot Spots' of high consumer spend for almost any product, helping you define areas where you should be either locating your next store or targeting your local marketing activities.
  • DVLA Parc Statistics:
As approved suppliers of DVLA data, our comprehensive anonymised market datasets can add invaluable insight to your market analysis, market representation planning, stock profiling and marketing activities. Our data is updated monthly and covers over 33 million registered vehicles including cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles. Valuable information is held at post sector, post district and post area level enabling local area insights into all kinds of vehicle attributes including makes and models, vehicle ages, colour and owner patterns for example.
  • Workplace Data:
To help understand the movement of population during working hours, our CAMEO Workplace Classifications have been devised to appreciate where people are located during the day. Journey to Work Datasets have been combined with our sister company EuroDirects CAMEO Classifications to create five systems that help users understand 9-5 populations by way of their geodemographics and socio-economics, income levels, credit risk, financial sophistication and property prices.
